About the Hike:
The Forest Society's Bockes Forest is a small tract of forestland crowded on all sides by residential areas. The nature of the property is not conducive to hiking opportunities, but the Forest Society advertises it for its walking trail network built on woods roads. Unfortunately, logging opperations have rendered the trails a bit unappealing, and the actual connectivity of the trails on the property seems to conflict with what's shown on the Forest Society's trail map. To find the trailhead, walk further (west) down Mill Road from the parking area and look for the woods road on the left just past the powerline clearing. We recommend staying on the main trail for as long as you wish and returning the same way. The Bockes Forest is included on the Forest Reservation Challenge, but also may appeal to local residents who want a nearby place to go for a quick walk.
